Comments slam FCC's plan to allow in-flight phoning

The public has overwhelmingly disapproved -- sometimes vehemently -- the Federal Communications Commission's proposal to allow airline passengers talk on their cellphones, according to the hundreds of public comments the agency has received even before it officially opened its rule-making procedure this week. FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler said it was up to federal transportation officials and the airlines to develop rules prohibiting the practice.
