Senate bill targets data security for consumers

Sens. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., and Tom Carper, D-Del., are proposing a bill intended to protect consumers against identity theft and other forms of cybercrime. The bill would require banks, government agencies, stores and other institutions to protect sensitive information and to inform customers if identity theft or fraud occurs, the senators said.
