Senate Democrats call for 9-1-1 location rule with cellphones

Senate Democrats are urging federal regulators to require emergency calls from cellphones be more precisely located, similar to landline calls. Trey Forgety of the National Emergency Number Association told members of a Commerce subcommittee that such rules could promote development of better location technology. While some stakeholders have raised concerns about the capabilities of existing technology, "we don't want to let the perfect be the enemy of the good," Forgety noted.
