Unilever trades margarine for butter spreads in "fundamental turnaround"

Unilever Foods began adding butter to its Rama spread in Germany, in what Unilever President Antoine de Saint-Affrique called a "fundamental turnaround" for a company that for years said butter was the enemy of its margarine-based spreads. Unit sales of Unilever spreads, which account for about 7% of overall sales, have been on the decline for six straight quarters and analysts expect another negative report when fourth quarter results are released this month.
