Verizon eyes M2M revenues from black gold on the range

Verizon Communications has taken to the vast empty range land of eastern Montana and North Dakota, setting up cell towers to establish 4G machine-to-machine connections to hook up oil drillers who have installed Web-capable sensors and pumps. Drillers hope that the Internet link will cut their costs by letting them monitor and tweak their operations remotely.
