Keep workers safer on the job for lower comp rates

Making the workplace safer and helping employees get back to work quickly are the two best ways to hold down workers' compensation insurance premiums, which have risen 50% nationwide in the last three years. Insurers want documentation proving cost controls and risk-prevention steps have been taken, but will often reward employers who take proactive steps, according to P.J. Crowley, vice president of the Insurance Information Institute.
