Boston gets first LEED pre-certification

The city has its first pre-certified LEED building in the form of a 49-story tower that will rise in the 1.8 million mixed-use South Station complex. The shell and core construction for the 1 million-square-foot tower received the designation one month after Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino announced a new initiative requiring developers to follow green building standards for projects exceeding 50,000 square feet.
