Californians asked to pay another $43 billion for growth

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, looking toward California's projected 30% population growth over the next 20 years, has called for massive new investment in public works projects such as schools, prisons, courthouses, levees and dams. During his State of the State address, Schwarzenegger called for $43.3 billion in new spending, which follows $42.6 billion in construction bonds already approved by voters.
