McDonald's plans $2 billion in capital spending this year

McDonald's, which added 800 units globally in 2007, plans to open 125 new restaurants in China and between 35 and 40 new eateries in Russia, according to the company. About 50% of McDonald's capital expenditures this year will support the opening of about 1,000 new restaurants overall, with the rest financing improvements at 1,600 locations, CFO Pete Bensen said.
