U.S. industrial activity at highest level since 2008

Fueled largely by strength in manufacturing and mining, industrial output in the U.S. expanded 0.3% in December, reaching its highest level since 2008, the Federal Reserve said. Capacity utilization edged up from November's 78.7%, to 78.8% in December, the central bank said.
