Check for history of silver-containing dressings before using CO2 laser

A patient previously treated with silver-impregnated dressings had poor outcomes after scar revision therapy with an ultrapulsed, fractionated carbon dioxide laser. The patient experienced worsening pigmentation and dystrophic calcification. "[A] history of argyria or treatment with silver-impregnated dressings should be considered before treatment with fractionated CO2 lasers," researchers wrote.
