Google's "bad" ad removal increased by 59% in 2013

In 2013, Google removed more than 350 million bad advertisements -- nearly 1 million per day, and a 59% increase from 2012. The increase is concurrent with a rise in legitimate digital advertising and Google's tighter security measures that flag counterfeiters and scammers, the company said. "Google continues to add new types of ads and formats all the time, and that creates new work to track down new ways of creating bad ads," said Mike Hochberg, an engineering director at Google.
