Hilmar Cheese to produce milk powder at new Calif. plant

Hilmar Cheese plans to enter the milk powder market with the construction of its third manufacturing site in California, the company announced Thursday. The cheese, whey and lactose producer will invest up to $100 million to build a new processing facility in Turlock. "The U.S. dairy industry, and specifically California, is well positioned to be a consistent supplier [of milk powders] to the world," Hilmar President and CEO John Jeter said.
