Second round of restoration planned for dome of Va. historic building

The iconic dome at the historic Rotunda building of the University of Virginia will undergo the second phase of renovations by May. The $42.8 million work will involve replacing the metal ceiling with plaster for better acoustics, as well as construction of a shade for the oculus, according to University architect David J. Neuman. The work will also involve replacement of roofs covering the porticos.
