Surgeon general finds causal link between smoking, long list of diseases

A report from the surgeon general says smoking is "causally linked" to a list of many diseases that includes colorectal and liver cancers, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. The report also said secondhand smoke exposure, which has been linked to heart attacks and cancer, also causes strokes. Acting Surgeon General Boris Lushniak said "the battle is not over" because 18% of U.S. adults still smoke.
