FTC chair warns against "unsupported claims"

In a keynote at a trade association conference, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Deborah Platt Majoras proposed a list of dos and don'ts for advertisers. Chief among them, were not spying on customers and avoiding misleading offers that aren't backed up by the fine print. Majoras also offered early praise for the industry's push to self-regulate food advertising in children's media.
