House Democrats optimistic over renewable fuels bill

Democrats believe they can push through an energy package -- scheduled for a House vote today -- to promote renewable fuels with $15 billion of fees, taxes, and royalties on oil and gas companies. Almost all of the money would be directed into a research and development fund for renewable fuels, such as solar and wind power, alternative fuels including ethanol and biodiesel, and conservation incentives.
