Cruise leaders eye greener Cozumel

Tourism groups and the Mexican government are partnering with the cruise industry to help conserve Cozumel's environmental health. Because of the high traffic at Cozumel -- said to be the most-visited cruise destination in the world -- its biodiversity is being endangered, said Conservation International, Cozumel's Tourism Department and the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association. Accordingly, the groups have signed an agreement called the Mesoamerican Reef Tourism Initiative to help further conservation and sustainability efforts at the port town.
