U.S. automakers try to make the most of lean budgets

With most automakers planning to trim their marketing budgets this year, General Motors and Ford are among those planning new ad strategies for leaner times. GM in its ads will emphasize fuel economy, design and overall quality of its vehicles, over price points, while Ford is planning a social-media campaign to build buzz for its 2011 model Fiesta, which will be launched next year.
