Vancouver seeks funding for water tunnels

Vancouver officials are seeking funding for a pair of water tunnels that would supplement aging pipes that carry water between North Vancouver and Burnaby. Officials warn that a minor earthquake could destroy the pipe system in the Vancouver metro area. The city hopes to start construction on the Port Mann tunnel in June, while the Second Narrows tunnel, estimated to cost about $119.4 million, is still in the design stage.
