U.S. government to begin new studies of BPA effects

U.S. officials said the government will do new research into the health effects of the chemical bisphenol A, commonly used in plastics, including baby bottles. Deputy HHS Secretary Bill Corr said data on the effects of BPA exposure in children deserve a closer look, and an FDA official said that agency supports claims in a 2008 report that the chemical is cause for "some concern."
