U.S. panel calls for obesity screens for children, teens

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommended school-age children and teens be screened for obesity and put in intensive behavior treatment programs if they need to lose weight. The task force said most pediatricians are not able to offer the necessary type of treatment and acknowledged that successful programs can be costly and difficult to find.
