Broadcom exec: 802.11ac will become common in next 2 years

Michael Hurlston, senior vice president of Broadcom's Home and Wireless Networking business unit, predicts that the forthcoming IEEE 802.11ac wireless networking standard will become the mainstream standard in wireless local-area networks next year or in early 2014. There will be faster adoption of 802.11ac than there was of 802.11n because of the advantages offered by the newer standard and a mature environment for wireless networking applications, he says.
