Precast concrete hastens construction work on N.Y. sports center

The use of precast concrete planks led to quicker progress in the construction of the Campbell Sports Center at Columbia University in New York. Work is now headed to the next stage. "The construction has been progressing quite rapidly mainly because of the type of structural system that was chosen," said Olaf Schmidt, a senior associate at Steven Holl Architects and the project's designer.
