Study: Weekly exenatide as effective as daily diabetes treatments

A study in Diabetes Care of 820 drug-naive patients with type 2 diabetes found that absolute changes in A1C levels were -1.53% in those who had once-weekly exenatide, -1.48% with daily metformin, -1.63% with daily pioglitazone and -1.15% with daily sitagliptin. The researchers said weight changes were -2.0 kg with exenatide once weekly and metformin, +1.5 kg with pioglitazone and -0.8 kg with sitagliptin.
