Automakers use green marketing to sell more SUVs

America's automakers are increasingly bragging about the fuel efficiency of their SUVs and trucks in a nod to consumers' environmental concerns and government scrutiny. "They know everybody's watching. ... So if they don't give lip service to the fact that fuel efficiency is important, even at the level of a new Corvette or Escalade, they're open to criticism," says John O'Dell of Edmunds.com.
