Florida state Board of Education seeks end to social promotions

Yesterday, the Florida Board of Education approved asking the legislature to end social promotions at all grade levels. Board of Education Chairman Phil Handy said the move was necessary to avoid the scenario of having students make it to high school with only elementary-level reading skills.
