Virginia schools chiefs push for waiver of NCLB rules

Today, the Virginia State Board of Education is expected to take up a motion endorsed by school superintendents to seek relief from NCLB's mandates. Noting that 84% of the state's schools are fully accredited, Edgar B. Hatrick III, president of the school chiefs' association, called the federal law cumbersome and often counterproductive.
