Washington lawmakers mull changing state exam

A former governor, the Washington state teachers union, the Seattle school board and others are pressing the state Legislature to adopt other measures besides the high-stakes state exam as a graduation requirement. Current Gov. Christine Gregoire and business leaders, however, say the test isn't that hard and contend it measures basic skills needed in the workplace and college.
