Caribbean faces worst tourism slump since post-9/11 period

The economic downturn and sweeping cutbacks by airlines have caused the Caribbean islands to suffer a substantial tourism downturn. Although the fallout varies from island to island, the Caribbean as a whole relies more on tourism than any other region in the world. "Some countries have been more adversely affected than others," said McHale Andrew, executive vice president of the St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association.
