China to break ground on new city in February

The Chinese government next month will begin a multi-billion-dollar project that will create a new town called Eternal Prosperity. It will replace a city destroyed by a severe earthquake that struck the Sichuan province last year. About 50,000 people will live in the new city within three years, the government predicts. China expects to finish the first phase of construction by 2012.
