More green roofs spring up in Portland as city offers incentives

Green roofs have spread to the suburbs of Portland, Ore., a sign that they are becoming more mainstream, observers say. The city now has 120 green roofs, up from 80 two years ago. A density "bonus" offered by the city allows developers to build more floors on a high rise if the building includes a green roof. The benefits of green roofs include reduced stormwater runoff and better air quality, among other things.
