Researchers: Old arthritis medicine may help diabetics

Salsalate, an old generic medication for arthritis, showed promise in helping regulate blood-sugar levels in Type 2 diabetics who participated in several small trials, U.S. researchers said. The anti-inflammatory drug could serve as a cheaper alternative for diabetics, although its efficacy in treating the disease has yet to be determined by an NIH-sponsored study of more than 400 people.
