Sprint offers $2 billion alternative to FCC emergency plan

Sprint Nextel told the Obama transition team it could build an interoperable national emergency wireless communications system for first responders for $2 billion, a fraction of the cost of the FCC's proposal to build a public-safety network through an auction of the 700-MHz D-Block spectrum.
