Abengoa, utility to build hybrid ethanol-and-power plant in Kansas

Abengoa Bioenergy has forged an agreement with Mid-Kansas Electric to build in Kansas' Stevens County a facility capable of producing cellulosic ethanol and electricity. The proposed $550 million commercial-scale plant would generate 15 million gallons of ethanol annually and 75 megawatts of base-load power. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2012.
