ConocoPhillips readies work on new phase in Canadian oil sands

ConocoPhillips will push through this year with the second phase of its Surmont oil-sands project in Canada. Once the phase is completed, it will raise the project's production capacity to 110,000 barrels per day. ConocoPhillips owns and operates the venture with a 50% stake, and France's Total controls the remaining shares.
