FRA chief praises Midwestern plan for high-speed rail

Joseph Szabo, head of the Federal Railroad Administration, praised a plan for high-speed rail in Illinois and other Midwestern states. However, Szabo stopped short of announcing which states would receive a portion of the $8 billion stimulus funds allocated for high-speed rail. "Certainly no tipping of the hand, but it's quite obvious that the Illinois application, as do many others, have some significant merits," said Szabo.
