Lawmaker believes Senate will focus on passage of energy bill

Proposed energy legislation in the Senate has a better chance of passage this year than does the climate measure, said Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D. Since the energy bill has already been cleared by the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, it would be simpler to approve, the senator added. That legislation calls for increased offshore drilling in the eastern part of the Gulf of Mexico and the expanded use of renewable energy sources.
