Oregon dogs are trained to sniff out truffles

Charles Lefevre, owner of a truffle tree nursery in Oregon, uses specially trained dogs to find the underground truffles. "The dog ignores truffles with no scent and only chooses the ripe ones," he explained. "It's really the only way to ensure the truffles you're harvesting are worth serving, without causing all the habitat destruction that raking does."
