Senate health bill seeks to subsidize inpatient drugs

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in the Senate health bill would expand the 340B program to include inpatient medicines, resulting in an average annual savings of $2 million for about 800 safety-net hospitals. Under the provision, the 340B program would also be expanded to allow critical-access hospitals to purchase drugs at a discount.
