Vermont wrestles with large-animal veterinary shortage

Veterinarian Dave Sequist often braves the cold, drives long distances and works long hours, part of his job as a large-animal practitioner in Vermont. Sequist said there is an extreme lack of large-animal veterinarians in the state's northeast and southeast regions, an issue that the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program seeks to address. However, the high demands associated with large-animal practice appear to be driving students to work with small animals instead, he said.
