30-year U.S. mortgage rate falls to record low

The average interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages in the U.S. fell to 3.88% this week, a historic low, Freddie Mac reported. It is the seventh week in a row the rate is less than 4%. The Mortgage Bankers Association said mortgage applications rose 23% last week.
