The current transportation reauthorization program expires at the end of March, and a six-year, $285 billion and a two-year, $109 billion proposal are on the table. A Make Transportation Job #1 campaign has kicked off, and several trade groups and unions will urge Congress to pass legislation before the current bill expires. AGC sees "encouraging signs" for passage of a multiyear transportation funding bill from key congressional players, including the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio. But, a "true team effort" is needed to get this done, the AGC said.
