Cost of key construction materials drops 0.2% in December 2011

The price of construction materials dipped 0.2% between November and December 2011, but the materials still cost 5.3% more than they did at the end of 2010, according to a report released by the Associated General Contractors of America. "Any relief contractors might get from the recent declines in materials prices is being offset by their inability to increase prices for new construction projects," said Ken Simonson, AGC’s chief economist.
