Most Americans support domestic energy production, survey finds

The majority of respondents in an American Petroleum Institute-commissioned survey believe that the domestic production of oil and natural gas could help spur economic growth and strengthen U.S. energy security. "Voters know developing more of America's homegrown energy makes sense for our economy and our energy security," said Jack Gerard, API's president and CEO. "Our economy will demand large amounts of oil and natural gas for at least several more decades even as the role of alternative energy increases."
