DISH brings home automation to the Hopper

DISH Network continued to display its interest in home-networking systems by exhibiting an automation system at CES this month that was linked with its Hopper DVR platform. The demo featured the Hopper attached to a ZigBee/Z-Wave USB dongle that allowed users to monitor and operate home appliances and doors. A DISH spokeswoman said the company has not decided whether it will market the products, although the company believes the Hopper has potential to act as a home-networking hub.
