Ill. district credits school-bus GPS for efficiencies

Officials in an Illinois school district say a new GPS tracking system installed in school buses last year has helped save time and created more efficiencies in the district's busing system. Students are equipped with electronic passes that record when they enter and exit school buses, and dispatchers can help parents track whether students are en route. The system also allows officials to track and evaluate driver times to determine whether they made it to stops on time.
