Texas university creates certificate program to meet workforce demands

Professionals from some Texas oil and gas companies will be among the instructors teaching classes in a new engineering program at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Students enrolled in the program can earn an oil and gas certificate, which was created to help meet the rising demand for skilled engineers with petroleum industry knowledge. "This certificate will signal to employers that graduates of this program have received top-tier training and exposure to the real world engineering challenges encountered in the oil-and-gas industry," said Harry Millwater, chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
