New York location the site of tide-powered turbine farm tests

Arlington, Va.-based Verdant Power is testing for a tide-powered turbine farm in a section of New York's East River that could generate up to 10 MW of electricity upon completion. The $20 million project would include as many as 300 turbines stretched along a 270-foot-wide, mile-long area on the east side of Roosevelt Island.
