Study: Older women who imbibe a drink a day show slower mental decline

One alcoholic drink a day may help keep mental decline away -- at least in women over 70, according to a new study. Researchers studying 11,000 nurses found elderly women who consumed a daily drink had about 20% reduced chance of suffering mental impairment compared to those who didn't drink alcohol, and a decline in memory and thinking was less likely over two years in the women who had a drink.
